Pinnawala is a small village located in the Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka. It comes under the district of Kegalle. Though it is a small place but still it is visited by a large number of tourists who like to spend their time in greens and calm atmosphere. Pinnawala is well known for the presence of Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage which was built here in the year 1975 to protect the elephants of the area. It is a habitat of around 96 elephants who are being taken cared of, nursed and conserved. Pinnawala Zoo, Bible Rock, Alagalla Mountain Range, Nelligala International Buddhist Centre and Pinnawala Ape Gama are other places to visit.
