Haora mostly called Howrah is a metropolitan area which is situated on the banks of Hooghly River in West Bengal, India. Its name is derived from a Bengali word Haor which means swampy lake. Howrah bridge which connects the city to its twin city Kolkata is one of the busiest bridges of the world carrying about 100,000 automobiles in a day.
