Lachung is a town and a hill station in the Indian state of Sikkim. It lies in the North Sikkim district bordering Tibet. Lachung is also the junction where the two tributaries of River Teesta namely, River Lachung and River Lachen meet. The meaning of the word Lachung is “small pass” referring to the appearance of the town. The top sights and the interesting places to visit here are the Lachung River, Lachung Monastery. Handicraft centres of the town, Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary and the picturesque area which can be explored anytime. Apples, peaches and apricots are the most sought-after things here.
