Madikeri is a city located in the district of Kodagu of Karnataka, India. The city which was also known as Muddu Raja Keri is named after King Mudduraja who ruled over the area for around 54 years. When the British took over Madikeri it was called as Mercara. The city is a popular hill station and is known for its best quality coffee beans. The coffee plantations are spread over a large area creating a greeny and stunning environment. Raja’s Seat, Madikeri Fort, Omkareshwara Temple, Abbey Falls and Government Museum are the places where you can spend a good time exploring the city. The local bazaars are the best places to shop from and things you can buy are homemade wine, timber carvings, Tibetan artefacts, Silk saris and sandalwood oil.
