The second largest town in Badulla district, famous for its tea plantations, vegetable and fruits gardens. It is the home to famous Ravana Falls and Ravana cave. The cave is dedicated to King Ravana (who was the king of Sri Lanka at the time) who had kidnapped princess Sita from her husband Lord Rama and had hidden her in the caves. It is believed that the cave is connected to a network of caves which lead Ravana to reach other locations of his kingdom. The close looks of the cave indicates that it is man-made and not naturally formed. The waterfall present near the cave is named as Ravana falls where Devi Sita bathed on a daily basis.
