Diphu is a town in the Indian state of Assam. It falls under the district of Karbi Anglong. The town has a population of 61,797 and the localities speak many languages like Assamese, Dimasa, Karbi, Hindi and English. The word Diphu is a Dimasa (Sino-Tibetian language spoken in north-east India) word which means “White Water”. The area is also known for its tourism and the interesting places here are Botanical Garden, Recreation Park, Arboretum cum Craft and Cultural Centre, District Museum and Statue of Rongpharpi Rongbe.
