Tissamaharama town is located in the Hambantota district of Southern Province of Srilanka. The town is famous for its rich history of Sinhalese times. It is known for its lake include Tissa Wewa, Yoda Wewa, Weerawila Wewa, Pannegamuwa Wewa, and Debarawewa Wewa. It is the home to Tissamaharama Raja Maha Vihara, an ancient Buddhist temple. It is believed that Lord Buddha himself has spent some time in meditation there with 500 arhats. Ruhuna Yala National Park, Kataragama and Situlpawwa monastery are popular tourist attractions in Tissamaharama.
